2014 | SOMETHING THAT ACCOMPANIES ONE EVERYDAY AND EVERYWHERE: NICOLAS FLEMING
EXHIBITION FROM DECEMBER 17 TO FEBRUARY 7, 2014
Nicolas Fleming presents a redefinition of the gallery space, modifying its perimetre by adding wall sections and using neon lighting in his new installation Something that accompanies one everyday and everywhere. By addressing the sculptural potential of the exhibition space proper, he proposes a partial circumvention of the white cube environment by an in situ installation. Displaying certain affinities inherent to formal and spatial research associated with Minimalism, his approach borrows much from the codes of the field of construction, which are then adapted for his esthetic inquiries. Inspired by these themes, his practice in installation is rooted in a visual vocabulary that evolves with the learning of new techniques and through the use of vernacular materials.
