2014 | LES LIEUX COMMUNS: PHILIPPE CLÉMENT, CHRISTIAN GRAVELLE, STÉPHANE ST-JEAN AUBRE ET ANNE-MARIE TRÉPANIER
EXHIBITION FROM SEPTEMBER 4 TO SEPTEMBER 20, 2014
Four regional emerging artists have taken inspiration from the circumstances of their collaboration and from their virtual modes of communication to conceive of an exhibition for the AXENÉO7 gallery spaces.
Based on an extensive list of instructions to follow, two analogous spaces are rearranged in a sort of relay race in the AXENÉO7 exhibition spaces. The first space will be installed by Christian. Relegated to the position of technician by the other participating artists while away on his honeymoon, he will be kept in the dark in regards to the project and his responsibilities until the actual installation. The second gallery will then be arranged by Anne-Marie, Stéphanie and Philippe – the authors of the original task list. This playful exercise attempts to give evidence to the physical and temporal intervals that distanced the artists from each other during the creative stages, and to relfect upon the divergences in interpretation caused by these self-imposed constraints and virtual working conditions. The almost symmetrical spaces, now appended, allow for the examination of the notion of contact.
A project by Philippe Clément, Christian Gravelle, Stéphanie St-Jean Aubre et Anne-Marie Trépanier presented as part of the 2014 Festival Outaouais Émergent.
