AXENÉO7 has commissioned world-renowned choreographer Noémie Lafrance and established theatre director Peter Jacobs to create a new work specifically for the Endless Landscape event at La Fonderie.
The new performance will not be taking place inside a traditional theatre space, but will instead unfold within a 58,000 square-feet former foundry where 12 visual artists from across Canada have created colossal artistic installations.
Born in Gatineau, Noémie Lafrance — Sens production — will be presenting work for the first time in her home town. This will be her first major performance in Canada since 2008, when she presented her project Melt at the Festival TransAmériques (FTA, Montreal).
Over 30 local collaborators, actors, dancers and performers will participate, including acclaimed Gatineau-born actress Noémie Godin-Vigneau and actor Marc-Andrée Charette in lead roles, with Amanda Bon, Jean Bellefleur, Ulysses Jacobs, Solange Paquette, Joël Paulin, Judith-Anne Poitras, Stephane Reneault, Komi Seshi, Stéphanie St-Jean Aubre and Jocelyn Todd. Together, they will intervene throughout this post-industrial environment, amidst murals and large-scale installations.
Noémie Lafrance is known as a site-specific choreographer and film director. Her original work has been presented as part of the Whitney Biennial, Festival TransAmériques, the Cannes Film Festival, and venues such as the Whitney Museum at Altria, the Neuberger Museum of Art, SESC Brazil, and PS122. She has choreographed for Cirque du Soleil, Doug Aitken, Lech Majewski, David Byrne, Feist, MØ, Snow Patrol, Alicia Keys, Justin Timberlake, Carly Rae Jepsen and others.
Peter Jacobs is known as an actor, director and playwright. He has performed and toured internationally with multidisciplinary performance companies including Reza Abdoh/ Dar A Luz, The Builders Association, Richard Foreman, and Michael Counts/GAle GAtes et al., and he has been featured in the motion picture Philadelphia, directed by Jonathan Demme. He has collaborated with choreographers and directors such as DD Dorvillier, Dean Moss, Luciana Achugar, Daria Faïn, Sarah Michelson and MKS Volcofsky. His original work has been presented at the Chocolate Factory, PS122, The Kitchen, The Movement Research Festival and Danspace.
